Niraj Chokshi reports on policy for The Washington Post.
He joined in August 2013 to co-launch GovBeat, a blog dedicated to trends in state and local policy, and his work reflects a mix of programming- and data-driven reporting that spans a wide range of topics.
He has traditional reporting experience covering, for example, same-sex marriage across the nation or the first day of legal marijuana sales in Colorado, as well as digital experience telling the story of modern America or the recession through charts, graphs and maps. Before joining The Post, Niraj was an economic policy reporter at National Journal, where he reported on issues ranging from the passage of a two-year transportation bill to the fiscal cliff. He also managed early-morning coverage for the newsroom, assigning and editing stories while running NationalJournal.com.
He has also reported on technology for TheAtlantic.com and on the business of the nation’s top 100 law firms in California. Niraj also has experience as a website designer.
